MY marketing classics

BELOW IS A SELECTION OF MARKETING VIDEOS THAT I CONSIDER “CLASSICS” – WORTH WATCHING OVER AND OVER AGAIN. SOME ARE RECENT; OTHERS ARE A BIT OLDER BUT STILL RELEVANT. LET ME KNOW WHAT STUFF YOU CONSIDER A CLASSIC AND I WILL ADD IT (PROVIDED I LIKE IT OF COURSE -LoL). ENJOY!

First of all, a bit of history

All Marketers Are Liars

A true classic in my eyes: Seth Godin’s speech on Marketing. I’ve heard the speech myself when Seth came and spoke to us at PepsiCo a few years back, but I’ve taken the speech at Google because it’s a clearer video:

Amazing play with data (and where Social Media will go in the future)

Here’s one of the most awesome TED videos: birth of a word, by MTI engineer DEB ROY. Not only does it give insights in how words are “born” and how language forms over time… he takes this to a whole new level taking his system and insights to public media and social media. [as of minute 12 in the video]. Something magical happens! An absolute must-see video for everyone interested in how media interacts with consumers; and how engagement properties work.

What we can learn from Spaghetti Sauce!

A wonderful, inspirational and really funny video on marketing and business filled with little nuggets of wisdom, by guru Malcolm Gladwell.

Liquid Networks

A brilliant speech on how teams work, and more importantly what learnings to take from that for INNOVATION!

The Social Media REVOLUTION

For those of you who’ve been living under a stone for the last decade … here’s a simple explanation of what’s been happening in social media.

Glocal marketing

Ex-PepsiCo’s CEO of International, Mike White, on his view on merging Global and Local. I’ve met Mike on various occasions in my career, and can tell you that this video is a real reflection of his powerful way of thinking and leading a global powerhouse like PepsiCo. Mike White is now the CEO and Chairman at DirecTV.

How does HUMOR in marketing and advertising work?

Laughter is a really powerful emotion, and when used correctly in communication and advertising it can create a great “click” with your consumers. But creating humor is an art! I found this really awesome document a few years back that gives you all insights on laughter and humor and how to “manipulate” it:

Pillars of Enchantment

Ex-Apple Mac Leader, and Marketing guru Guy Kawasaki on enchanting your consumers

 Where good ideas come from

A fun video talking about ideas and creativity

TIME-MANAGEMENT CLASSIC

No efficient marketing can be done if time-management is inefficient. The old HBR-classic teaches how to be effective and efficient. Just make sure the monkey is in the right place!
