MAKE SURE YOU *CREATE*

by Kurt on September 10, 2011

How will you “grow” your business, your brand, your life…everything? BY CREATING!

Create a plan

Create the next execution

Create a tv commercial

Create a sales plan

Create a line extension

Create a meeting with an objective

Create …whatever…but create.

And… put it on PAPER and execute!

My objective every day is to “create” something in my work, as well as something in my private life (I write so that’s ultimate creation; for me). Easy as that might seem, I can tell you it is not!

There are enough forces in a company to get you from doing that: email correspondence, meaningless meetings, reporting requirements, random talks, maintaining social life and networks -you name it.

My advice: it’s a mind set thing! Don’t leave the office before you have CREATED something.

Set it as your goal every day. It is invigorating, and frankly speaking the reason why we all have jobs in the first place.

We all help “create” growth for the company we work for, whether our own start-up, our father’s business, or a big multinational.

Now, what does “CREATE” mean?

– Something NEW!

– Look FORWARD not backwards.

– Add a bit of YOURSELF to an idea.

– Make it TANGIBLE (i.e. put it on paper)

– Do SOMETHING!

So:

Making a power point presentation, however necessary that may be in your job, is NOT creating. It may help you understand how to create something new and different in the future, but in itself it is not doing that job; it will not help the business grow.

Having said that, once your ppt is done, doing thinking on implications, on planning, etc IS creation.

Again, mind set!

Enough said: GO CREATE!

Good luck.
